Pura Tanah Lot ( Temple ) – A Must See Whilst In Bali

Hallo all travelers,

Today we are going to talk about one of the nicest temple in Bali, last week we just do our Bali private tour with one of our client and we post some of nice pictures we took from our journey. from the desk of BaliDriverGuide.org we reporting:

Where is Tanah Lot Temple?

This temple is located in Tabanan, about 20 kilometres from Denpasar the capital of Bali. or if you travel from south ( kuta & airport ) it will approximately take about about 45 to 60 minutes drive.

Balinese Believe and the Mythology:

The Tanah Lot temple has been a part of Balinese mythology for centuries. The temple is one of seven sea temples around the Balinese coast. This temple has significant Hindu influence. At the base of the rocky island, poisonous sea snakes are believed to guard the temple from evil spirits and intruders. Tanah Lot is claimed to be the work of the 15th-century priest Nirartha. During his travels along the south coast he saw the rock-island’s beautiful setting and rested there. Some fishermen saw him, and bought him gifts. Nirartha then spent the night on the little island. Later he spoke to the fishermen and told them to build a shrine on the rock for he felt it to be a holy place to worship the Balinese sea gods ( more details about this temple read on wiki here ).

Spectacular views with spectacular photo opportunities & a spectacular sunset if you are there at the right time. The tourists are required to pay entry fee to reach the temple. You have to pass through a Balinese market – souvenir shops – which cover each side of the path down to the sea. On the mainland cliff tops, restaurants have also been provided for tourists. Tanah Lot Temple is on a large offshore rock, Furthermore, it will be high tide and the temple looks like floating located in the small isle on its own the middle of the sea. It is home of a pilgrimage temple, and a popular tourist and cultural center, In fact, you are not allowed to reach upto the temple, and all you can see is from the shore, take nice photo of the temple, and admire the beauty, nice for photography and general exoticism.

Tips and Best Time To Go:

Listening to the waves splashing the rocks…. people laughing and cheering…. a few couples taking pre-wedding shoots…. it’s truly a great place to relax………

Should have arrive there earlier to enjoy more of the views, we would suggest you have to be there around 5.00 pm or 5.30 pm at the latest As it gets dark quite quick. This place should not be missed by first time visitor to Bali. It is landmark of Bali, which means your trip to Bali is incomplete if you miss it from your itineraries.
